One year after launch, a Fortune 100 snack food manufacturer’s new state-of-the-art facility had not met corporate productivity and quality standards. Additionally, senior managers were complaining that they were spending excessive time dealing with tactical issues, leaving little time for their strategic-level responsibilities. After confirming that the plant’s technology/equipment and processes were performing properly, the organization concluded that the problem lay in the people side of the business.

  • Conducted a role analysis on each level of management, discovering significant confusion regarding what the various levels of leadership were responsible for.
  • Led the organization in clearly defining the roles, responsibilities, authority and accountabilities of each level of management.
  • Inventoried supervisors’ supervisor skills and identified development needs.
  • Provided skills training appropriate to the responsibilities of each level of leadership.
